The second quarter of 2021 showcased interesting trends for the top five cryptocurrency apps on the Android platform in Oceania. According to data from Sensor Tower, these apps experienced a mix of growth and decline in terms of downloads and active users.
CoinSpot - Buy & Sell Bitcoin demonstrated notable fluctuations in weekly downloads. The app peaked at approximately 28K downloads in early May before gradually declining to around 3K by the end of June. Similarly, active users increased from 71.7K at the end of March to a high of 129K in mid-May, eventually stabilizing at about 111K by the end of June.
Binance: Buy Bitcoin & Crypto saw a surge in downloads early in the quarter, reaching nearly 26K in early May. However, this number dropped to just over 4K by the end of June. The active user base also saw an initial rise from 73.9K to around 134.8K by mid-May, followed by a steady decline to approximately 105.5K by quarter's end.
Crypto.com - Buy Bitcoin, ETH maintained consistent performance with weekly downloads peaking at around 14.8K in early May and then settling at approximately 5.8K by the end of June. Active users grew from 29.7K at the start of the quarter to 45K in early May, maintaining a steady rate around 43.2K towards the end of June.
Trust: Crypto & Bitcoin Wallet experienced a similar trend, with downloads peaking at roughly 17.8K in mid-April and declining to about 1.7K by the end of June. Active users increased from 20.9K at the end of March to a peak of 62.6K in mid-May, followed by a decrease to around 43.4K by the end of the quarter.
Lastly, Coinbase: Buy Bitcoin & Ether showed a gradual decline in weekly downloads, starting at around 3.5K in late March and dropping to approximately 1.4K by the end of June. Active users rose from 18.9K at the beginning of the quarter to a peak of 32K in mid-May, before tapering off to about 21.5K by the end of June.
